Name: Simon Crafar

Nationality: New Zealander (born: Waiouru)

In 1993 Crafar finished 9th in the 500cc Dutch TT at Assen riding for Harris Yamaha and was 10th in the 250cc European GP at Catalunya with V-Twin Suzuki.

Riding an RC45 Honda, Crafar finished 5th overall in World Superbikes in '94 and 6th overall in '95. Fellow kiwi and Honda rider Aaron Slight finished 3rd both years.

In 1996 Cafar joined Team Muzzy Kawasaki and finished 7th overall after a season of consistantly good finishes including a 2nd at Donington. That same year he took 2nd in the Suzuka 8-Hour Endurance Race paired with Anthony Gobert.

Still with Kawasaki for 1997 he finished a very respectable 5th in WSB after a 2nd and 3rd at Sugo, the same at Albacete, two 3rds at Phillip Island and a 3rd at Donnington. He almost won in Indonesia in the final round, but was knocked out by Kocinski in a crash. He also finished 7th in the Suzuka endurance race this time paired up with Akira Yanagawa.

For the 1998 season he left Kawsaki and raced in the Moto GP for Yamaha.
