Whales Get Sonic Reprieve (link)
Whales

Whales Get Sonic Reprieve - You could say I have some 'green-tendencies' but although I wouldnt exactly call myself a whale-hugger you'd have to say that the following is good news for our underwater cousins..

"A federal judge has temporarily blocked the Navy from using a high-frequency sonar system to detect enemy submarines, due to fears of its effect on whales and other sea mammals." - source

Turns out that the US Navy is developing a sonar 'system' which can generate underwater signals of over 200 decibels. In technical terms this is what you might call ... "a fucking loud sound".

Apparently in March of 2000 a similar sonar was used by the US navy in the bahamas that killed 8 whales which were found beached nearby with internal hemorrhaging around their brains and ear bones, injuries consistent with exposure to loud noise.

MMMMmmmm..... Sushi anyone ?

Drink and Eat what you like !!!

Drink and Eat what you like !!! - I like eating, I also like drinking, I dont want a heart-attack, so I pissed myself laughing when I spotted the following pasted on the office door of one of the folks in my building...

  • The Japanese eat very little fat and suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
  • The French eat a lot of fat and also suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
  • The Japanese drink very little red wine and suffer  fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
  • The Italians drink excessive amounts of red wine and also suffer fewer heart attacks than the British or Americans.
  • The Germans drink a lot of beers and eat lots of sausages and fats and suffer fewer heart attacks  than the British or Americans.

CONCLUSION:

Eat and drink what you like. Speaking English is apparently what kills you.
