DeeKnow’s Grotto

While I was in San Francisco last year I popped into a corner-store to grab something to snack on. I wandered up and down the aisles frowning at all the fatty/sugary crap on the shelves but finally spotted a shrinkwrapped 10-pack of those little boxes of raisins.

I love raisins, they're such a lovely little natural treat, so grabbed the box and headed to the counter. The check-out girl looked at the pack with a puzzled look, and proceeded to tell me that in the whole time she had been working in the store, she had never sold any of 'those things'.

As she processed the transaction we continued to talk about the precious little snacks, she recognising my accent then proceeded to chat me up, so I came up with one if my usual excuses (something about having a girlfriend) and continued on my way. :-)

If you've ever consider yourself to be a little on the nerdy side then you should read this article described on SlashDot as "a lengthy but engaging writeup of that chamber of horrors we call high school and why being smarter than the average bear is more of a liability than an asset". Of course, I wouldnt call myself a nerd, far from it, this is more of a community service thing I'm doing for the rest of you geeks.

I didn't notice any mention of it in the news on the idiot-box, but did you know that yesterday was the anniversary of the 'official' end of the last Gulf War. On the 27th February 1991 President George Bush announces that Kuwait was 'liberated'.
