Homer for President (link)
Homer

This is just classic. If you're a reader of the Waikato Times then you might as well stop here coz surely you saw the full page story in tonights paper about the popularity of Homer Simpson.

A few months back the BBC ran a poll to find out who people thought was the greatest Briton of all time, and they've carried out a similar exercise recently, this time (in the strictly unscientific survey) looking for the greatest American.

And who do you think is shaping up to come out on top? Yep, good old Homer, thrashing the likes of Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King and 'Mr T' to take the top spot.

But wait, there's more. The hilarity continues with another U.K. poll which asked kids who they fancied having as a Father. 22% of kids polled said they would happily swap their dads for Homer.

Great Stuff!!!  I absolutely love the show, there really is something in it for everyone. Its always tough deciding between the Simpsons and the 6 O'Clock news (both entertaining and of little educational value). Unfortunately for my mental health, the news generally wins out.

One thing I've always wondered when watching the credits roll by at the end of the show (to see who's done the cameo voice-over appearences that night) is what Matt Groening looks like. Well thanks to Google, I now know.
