Muffle This Baby !!! (link)

For the last couple of months I've been battling repeated broken muffler brackets on me bike so over the last few weeks started working on the chief domestic accountant to see if she would approve a new replacement Carbon muffler, justification being largely safety considerations. I mean you can hardly be riding around with a broken muffler bracket now can you?

I picked the bike up tonight, new muffler fitted, and am looking FWD to waking the neighbourhood up with it in the morning ... no wait a minute, noone else but me is still at the house by 9am, so maybe I'll have to settle for waking them up when I come home from work tomorow night  :)

Seriously tho, I think yaz'll be impressed, and yes, there appears to be a subtle performance impact, not just cosmetic.  More testing required but throttle response is noticebly quicker, maybe a touch less mid-range but top-end seems a little peakier. And at the very least its a couple of kilos lighter than the old factory banger. Might organise a dyno run at Road-n-sport.

Was quite funny picking it up from the workshop (F1-Engineering), the lads had just finished the job and I helped them get it off the bench. Wheeled it outside and fired it up...

GRRRrrGRrrrGGGrrrrGRRRRrrrrGrrr
(Nice throaty rumble on start-up)

RRRROOOooarrr...RRRRRoooaaarrrr!!!
(Manly but not obnoxious blipping throttle)

Bloody glorious !!!  We all had smiles from ear-to-ear as we took turns cracking the throttle. From their gleeful expressions I'd say it was the 1st time they'd heard it running so that was kinda neet. Maybe there's some sort of protocol that says the owner should fire it up 1st.

Jeeze it was funny.  Couldnt help but make a wee nuisense of myself heading down Killarney Rd on the way home :)
