Dirty Smelly Bastard

My old HJC helmet has been feeling very long in the tooth lately so today I took advantage of a day off work and rocked up to Auckland to check out what all the manufacturers have to offer. After dismissing the seriously priced Arai's I settled on an XR/1000 SHOEI from Motormail for $800. Its a Michael Rutter replica jobbie but the same spec as a standard XR/1000

Weighs 1350gm (+/-50), is a shit load quieter, fits way more snugly and comfortably and has heaps less drag when you turn your head at speed. I rode about 500km in it today which, a mostly sunny but also windy day, and the helmet was bloody great. Be interesting to see how it compares to the old HJC banger with winter coming up.

On the way home I was feeling in a good old bouyant mood, helmet was feeling great, bike was running well and hadn't seen any cops all day so figured I'd carry on down the East coast and catch up with Kiotie and Lorraine45 for lunch. As luck would have it I caught up to a stock truck just after the bombays and couldn't understand why the queue of cars was staying so far behind it.

Should have known better really coz as I picked my way up to the truck so I could get past, it hit a bump and launched a few litres of fresh runny cow shit onto the road which vapourised immediately and sprayed itself in my direction and over the cars behind.

The Dirty Smelly Bastard!!!

Jesus I was furious, all over my brand new helmet. I cracked the throttle to pass the prick coz the shit was constantly dribbling off the tray and onto the road, was in such a hurry to get past I forgot to give the driver the finger for not unloading the freeking effluent catch-thingy which I'm sure they're meant to have these days.
