Although well known these days as a manufacturer of motorcycles and jet-skis the marque was a late entry to two-wheel vehicles as until the early 60's their core business was focused on heavy industry, building everything from ships to sky-scrapers. Kawasaki Heavy Industries was named after its founder Shozo Kawasaki, and has nothing to do with Kawasaki city in Japan. Check out the Kawasaki Timeline page for a list of key events resulting in the development of the company's motorcycle industry.
