Can Chicks Drive Trucks? (link)
Wheels

Have just got back tonight from a couple of days up in Auckland. A group of us from work have been up there at presentations by potential vendors of a new system for work. Its a pretty big ticket thing so the vendors were on their best behaviour, treating us well, lots of smiles, handshakes, tea and coffee galore, and the odd beer and free lunch of course.

On the way back to Hamilton tonite we got stuck behind a big freight truck on the motorway who we had to follow for probably a half-hour or so through road-works and the like. The driver of the truck was doin that indicator flash thing that truckies do to each other.

If you haven't noticed it yourself, here's the drill. One trucker see's another rig coming down the road, he puts his right hand indicator on for long enough for it to flash once, and the other driver flicks his one on in reply. Sort of like a truckers secret-handshake, although its not really very secret.

I was driving and shoulda been keepin my eyes on the road, but it was dark so I couldn't help noticing the fascinating indicator-courtship spectacle before us. There are crap-loads of trucks on our roads and this dude was flashing every single one, musta been like a flash every 20 seconds or so.

The funny thing was that not every truck was flashing back at our diesel-powered friend in front. Every 3rd or 4th truck snubbed him and didn't reply. I didnt quite work out why, but maybe it was some sort of truck-snobbery, something like..."Hey dude, I'm driving a Kenworth, your only in a Mitsubishi, Forget it !!!"

Then I started feeling sorry for him. Actually I dont really know if it was a him specifically. Coulda been a girl-trucker I guess, and she was probably wearing a pair of stubbies, with a pack of cigaretes rolled up under her t-shirt sleave.
