No time for Dreamin. There's Ridin to be dun (link)

In this modern age of rampant consumerism there's nothing most of us like more than dreaming about new purchases of big-ticket luxury items. Upgrading the telly or DVD player, the new seasons skis, a golf set, a Jet ski or 4WD maybe.

But in my case its usually fantasizing about the next motorbike.

Tonight though I had a wonderful reality check that made me realise you need to take advantage of the shit you have before wasting money replacing stuff that really aint really improving your lot in any significant way.

I popped into Crap-N-Shave on the way home to buy some bubbly (its Kyms birthday) and bumped into Mark, a local motorbike paint specialist who I know through friends. He's done a fairing spray and the odd touch-up for me in the past, and I really respect his experience and advice re bikes.

Anyway, we got to talking about our machines over shopping-trollies. Him asking how I was finding my new Kwaka, me asking him about his Bimota (and other members of his stable) and eventually talk switched round to bike mods and upgrades. I said to him "you know what its like, when you start thinking about upgrades" .. and he replies ... "Yeah I used to, but I'm happy with the YB8 now".

It was then that I realised that actually I really am happy with my ZXR. In fact its friggin excellent. Its got loads of performance, not costing me anything out of the ordinairy, I love the looks and riding it is a bloody blast.

Fuck the upgrade. I'm as happy as Larry.
Cheers Mark !!! :-)
