Extortion in Hamilton (link)

News can be a little slow in little-ole-Hamilton some times, which was why I was kinda suprised to read the story in our local paper today concerning a bunch of Chinese students attending Waikato University being subjected to extortion.

Lets be clear about this, the extortion wasn't actually happening at the University, its not as if the Lecturers where demanding money for pass-marks or anything, no it was Chinese thugs forcing their fellow countrymen and women to do things like sign over ownership papers of cars to them etc.

I mean, you hear about this sort of thing from bigger cities, but Extortion in Hamilton. Whats the world coming to?

Yarpies out of World Cup (link)

Now this is beautiful. If there's one country New Zealanders like to see beaten as much as the Australians it would have to be the South Africans and thats just what's happend in the World cup of Cricket. The South Africans tied with Sri Lanka in their final game which puts them out of the competition and lets New Zealand through to the final round.

The classic thing was Mark Boucher blocking the last ball coz he thought he didnt need any more runs, when really he needed one more for victory

The Poor old Yarpies, Not!!!. NZ captain Stephen Flemming was quoted in the paper today as saying "I guess you don't like to see a situation like that for another team". Bullshit we don't Stephen, unless you'd call bursting out laughing "not liking" :-)

Dangerous Dating in Iran (link)

Jeeze, you'd wanna be careful how you went about dating in Iran. Dozens of young Iranians have been detained by the Basij militia for "unlawful actions" after using a website to arrange dates

The Basij enforce Iran's strict morality laws and often raid mixed parties and gatherings, but this is the first time an operation against internet users has been reported. They also detained the operators of the dating website.
